IBM Maximo

Workorder, Service Request Integration

In large implementations we follow hub and spoke model. Where Maximo is HUB - System of record, all Workorders and Service Requests are initiated in Maximo. Typically Workorder record will have a flag or attribute that will differentiate from normal workorders with Graphic Work Design workorders.

Design and Estimating

The workorder is created and sent to GIS System. The GIS Designer engineer creates a design based on the work request by using Compatible Units. He will submit the design to Maximo for estimating. He can also create a quick Design By Location report. The CUs are grouped by Work Types. For example for a POLE replacement Job, we will need to retire a POLE CU and install a POLE CU. This will also include accessories such as POLE ASSEMBLY. Each CU will have status that directs the Field Crew to do their work. The DBL report will help us to quickly review the design and also help Field Crew to pick up the parts from Warehouse.

Oracle Work & Asset Management

Asset Management Integration

As always Oracle is system of record for all Assets and Locations.  The attributes are synced between GIS and Oracle.  The GIS changes are captured through version differences and updated into Oracle Staging tables. The records in Staging table are compared with Oracle WAM  and updated in Oracle. It can be a two way sync but mostly it is one way sync to Oracle.
